These ATV riders need to stop riding illegally.

I have seen these, worst time was when I saw a dad and toddler on one together, on Burr St. No helmet on either, no belts, of course. Have called police repeatedly, but other than following them home, don't know how they will catch them!

Big young male* on mini-cycle blasting across Townsend Ave. highway bridge on West sidewalk at abt 3:30 PM yesterday. No helmet either.

How about the noise on Woodward Ave & Main Street with motorcycles and loud car radio's? Maybe someone should check the noise level around 4:00 pm to 4:00am-try to sleep through that!!!

Saw ATVing on Burr Street recently, called police via 911. Mother with two tiny children, looked to be ages 4-6 with her clapping as they rode ATVs on the corner of Burr and Girard(?) where the empty lot is. Police dispatch promised to respond ASAP as there were minor children involved.

No excuses, everyone concerned MUST be there tomorrow, this will be our only chance for public hearing, and the room must be full! Show your support this Tuesday 11/13 @ 6 p.m., all should attend, If not you, and us then who? Tell everyone you know and bring them along if needed--room should be packed, this may be our only chance for this type of City-wide meeting.

they drove across my front lawn! during the last snow fall 2 sets of tracks. I just took down a fence to make the corner more open and they drove right acroos my front walk way. They run down the middle of Townsend ave all the time most times in pairs.someone is not going to see them and they will get hurt and then someone will say "they were such good kids" lets not have them get hurt before they get stopped. please

They fly up and down Concord street day and night- they also don't stop at the stop sign. It's just a matter of time before there's an accident.

Atv's in the snow blasting down Concord Street right now. One actually got stuck and he had to dig himself out. Not just an annoyance but a danger, if the plows were actually out plowing this storm they could have been hit.

I can hear either an ATV or small car stuck in the snow right now, near my house, at the corner of Hyde and Fort Hale. When will people learn? This ATV nonsense....we can only do so much, as the city and state laws aren't as strict as you think they'd be. Until the laws change, not much will change in the ATV craziness we see.

They've driven straight at cars the last few nights seeing who gets off the road first in the single-lane plowed roads.

To add, like BenNHV said: these grown men's photos are all over the Internet and their faces and actions (where one clearly sees them touting the law) clearly recognizable on YouTube and Instagram.

Should be easy to find for any local authority paying attention.

What happened at the meeting, can we ask the alderman to ask for more police? When they get hurt or killed it will be to late.

They are all over social media, including youtube--simply Google "New Haven Bike Life" on youtube; plenty of videos. The evidence is there. Their faces are plainly visible, as are their antics and many of the areas they frequent, like Criscuolo Park here in Fair Haven. I respect our police dept. and the no chase policy, but there must be other ways to start to resolve this problem and show the offenders and the community that the NHPD is no longer going to stand for it. I fully support confiscating and destroying the ATVs/dirtbikes of repeat offenders. I have almost hit or been hit by them two many times to count, and they thrive on intimidation tactics. "Average citizens" puts themselves at risk if they try to confront the riders, so that is not an option.

I am closing dirt bike/ATV complaints that pre-date the conclusion of the police undercover operation (see www.newhavenindependent.org/index.php/archives/entry/9_arrested_in_dirt_bike_sting/). I do not expect the dirt bike/ATV issue to be completely solved, but it will be helpful to policing efforts to distinguish new reports from those before last month's operation. The operation was not a one-off effort to address this issue, and information reported in new issues is helpful.

Please open up new SCF issues as dirt bike/ATV issues re-occur.

Information about dirt bikes is helpful, so thank you for reporting but please open as a new issue. The way our system processes SCF issues, it is too easy to overlook re-opened old issues that do not have an issue category attached to them, so it is important to get us the information in a new issue.

Please understand, I am not saying this broader issue is solved. I am saying that if you comment on an older issue, the information will not get to the NHPD and SCF will not function effectively for addressing issues. I am not closing this issue to reduce the number of open issues or something - I am encouraging you to open a new issue, afterall - but because keeping this issue open means that: 1) any information posted on it does not get to the city people it needs to unlike a new issue, and 2) it makes it harder for me as a manager to track whether departments are on top of responding to issues as they come in.

STOP BLAMING COPS! There are several people who live throughout the city who are making big money on this issue. Bike storage, repair, etc. I cannot believe that a city official would close this issue, since not only has it become worse, it is a serious threat to citizen safety. Especially in this hot summer heat. IT IS WRONG AND THIS ILLEGAL ACTIVITY COULD COST SOMEONE THEIR LIFE.

Dell Cladder, the issue was closed because it is too old. This issue was first opened on 12/20/2009 and since then, the NHPD started a surveillance & arrest program of dirt bikers. The City is asking that any NEW dirt bike issues be opened as a NEW ticket in SeeClickFix. This way the City will be able to track and respond to the new issue. Just open a new issue already.

Mr. Smuts I read what you had to say but you have no right to unilaterally keep closing the issue, again, the taxpayers will close it when it's FIXED?

Wow, this is a basic information system management issue everyone. They can better pinpoint issues posted after a certain date rather than scroll down the comments on old issues (particularly those before the crack down several weeks ago). We all want this dirt bike/ATV nonsense to end. We can help the city better monitor the activities with current posts and details about the offenders. If you have an issue, please just post a new comment. The volume of new incidents reported will speak volumes to the city rather than burying them in old reports.
