Agreed that the entire Booraem/NY Ave/Palisade intersection should be evaluated with pedestrians in mind

Would love the crossing lights we have on Central to be out in Palisade too!

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We will conduct a preliminary traffic assessment to determine what type of traffic control is warranted at this intersection. The preliminary assessment will also help identify if a more in-depth study is required. Please allow 4 to 6 months for preliminary study to be completed.

This crossing is unsafe. Drivers don’t stop for pedestrians.

Are there updates for timing on the traffic study?

Please at least have a police car patrolling this part of Palisade ave. Crossing it is very unsafe.

Is it possible to get a flashing pedestrian crossing sign at this intersection

We have over 1,000 requests of this type through out the City. This is just to say that it is hard to answer everything on SCF in a timely manner, while we are looking at all of these requests and intersections to place the most appropriate traffic calming solutions. This has not fallen off our plate and please forgive us the lateness of our response here, it is not a sign that this intersection and request is not important! We are working hard to get these prioritized and solutions implemented as funding becomes available.

Came to talk about 5 kids and 4 adults almost getting run over at this intersection today. I was in a bright yellow coat holding a toddler with another entire family behind me waving my arms aggressively at the oncoming drivers and probably 10 cars sped by me. During a gap in the traffic I went out into the crosswalk and out my hand up like a crossing guard at the car that was probably 100 feet away and he actually SPED UP and swerved into the middle line to get around me. Even as I was screaming at the top of my lungs.
Both families were extremely shaken. I could not have been more visible (remember- bright yellow coat, waving my arms, yelling and making eye contact) but we still almost all got mowed down by speeding cars.

This intersection is dangerous. Please update us on the study that got requested over six months ago?

Someone should be fired for this.

We are setting our priority list for this up coming season now.

During what months is the season for traffic studies? What is required for this intersection to make the priority list?

When the weather warms up, we can do the striping and concrete work again. Vicinity to a park/school; being on a high injury network (roads identified as greatest risk by Vision Zero), and other factors. Right now we have 596 requests. These intersections are on the list. It also depends on funding and if Engineering or the JCMUA is repaving (they are setting their schedule and priority list now).
