I almost hit a kid. Traveling in that area and driving slowly because it is so dangerous with people crossing and cars pulling out without signaling, I spot the ice cream truck and see an older woman with two kids buying ice cream. All of a sudden they take off running toward the front of the truck, and I think these people cannot wait to get back to the ballgame. But something made me think what if that kid runs out in the street and that's why the older woman was running. I slammed on my brakes and watched since my view of them was now blocked by the truck. Sure enough the kid has run around the truck and heads into the street. The old lady grabs him. What if I had not stopped on instinct? What if someone else had been traveling at 40mph which happens frequently. Someone is going to get hurt or be killed and then this parking mess will be addressed. Some unsuspecting family is going to pay a high price if this illegal parking is allowed to continue. It's only a matter of time.
