This intersection is a DEATH WAITING TO HAPPEN. It is surprising that it hasn't been fixed yet.

It's not just the lack of signage, the whole intersection is designed in a way that is friendly to truck traffic and deadly to everyone else.

This is ESPECIALLY a problem now, with the dozens of Yale University construction projects in this area having greatly accelerated the rate of truck traffic speeding through streets that are congested with pedestrians and cyclists. Speed bumps, walk signs, table intersections and barriers should be installed immediately, before someone is killed.

A special traffic enforcement detail is also needed, and should be active anywhere that construction vehicles are in operation. The City should enact a special ordinance that fines construction vehicles $5,000 if they violate traffic rules within 10 blocks of a construction site.

We can no longer continue to accept this risk to our lives.

The Chinese can build 300 miles of high-speed rail in a year, and we have to wait through years and years of delays just to see an improved crosswalk?

Seems especially bad now with the increased traffic flow. How about moving the stop lines back and adding temporary traffic calming measures, such as concrete barriers or large sand barrels in the center (creating a temporary roundabout)?

How about not encouraging so much traffic through narrow residential and academic streets? Why can't this traffic connect through Munson or some other more direct route?

Current construction around here is making it worse. Police directing traffic are ignoring pedestrians, directing cars and trucks to turn when pedestrians have already started crossing and have right of way.

It could be better for everyone to send vehicles along Whitney, Edwards, Hillside and Munson instead of through narrow Sachem and Mansfield/Winchester. This area is just too congested.

I agree it's quite chaotic right now, but at least traffic is slow. People need to be extra careful while navigating the intersection given the level of unpredictability in the traffic pattern.

Hopefully the district manager will read this and remind police to be extra cautious when directing traffic while pedestrians or cyclists are present at the intersection.

This is still not fixed. Traffic turning off Sachem is not yielding to crossing pedestrians. Even the Yale Shuttle drivers don't yield to crossing pedestrians.

Driver education is needed, can we have a sting operation?

There is a walk signal here, now, and much improved signage and signal light. This issue should be closed with thanks to the DTTP!
