The alley is worse than it ever was. Weight limit of trucks on alley is 2 tons. I've stopped huge 18 wheel tucks whose laden wgt is in excess of 15 ton. Alleys were designed for horse and carriage and pedestrians. When delivery trucks are in alley, garbage trucks, emergency vehicles and cars trying to get into their garages, cannot get through. Have broken springs on my car and now my exhaust system bottomed out and needs replacing.
Rats were especially active after Elmwood Festival because garbage bins were overflowing and clear bags just thrown in alley from food venders. Rats caught last nite were a beige instead of the usual scruffy grey.
Guess we don't have the correct political clout because we are neglected and ignored. Maybe things will change after primary election?

Excessive traffic and large delivery trucks continue to wreck havoc with the alley's surface. In looking at maps from the 1800's when it was called "Koch Alley", it was never meant to be a 'street'...only a means to get your horse and carriage to one of the nearby streets.
The deviants are collecting as fast as the rats. Public exposure with miscreants using our garage doors and cars as a 'public toilet' are increasing. They fear no cameras even when warned.

This is a place where Benchmark and Karl Frizlen are going to construct a 30 unit apt bldg. with commercial space? Who will spend upwards of $1,400.00 plus utilities for a one bdrm with filth, rats,
deviants and crime?
Only the City who approved it knows!

Alley is worse than ever and apartment/commercial complex has been approved by planning board for a very "ugly" three story, square structure that doesn't fit into Elmwood Village. Most of the residents don't even know about this. This brings more garbage and rats into the neighborhood.
Can't fight City Hall but must pay our taxes and get nothing in return.

Nothing has changed and everything is worse from our winter.
City should take a look at the rear of the parking lot along the alley. It's strewn with glass, garbage, food, rats, rocks, etc. Graffitti is starting up on our garages again.
Great to look at when I leave my garage. Rats and seagulls love it also! Got two rats last night. Unfortunately seagulls are on the endangered protected list.

Winter is here and GrenWay Alley has not been plowed even once. Construction is going on in the Benchmark lot and trucks are trudging through ruts, which cars cannot navigate. I snow blow in front of my garage, only to get stuck before I can get to a secondary street. How many more lack of services can we expect? This is supposed to take one year to complete. Cars and trucks parked in alley when "No Standing/Parking" signs are posted. Two families sold their homes because of this mess. Perhaps the City or Benchmark would like to purchase the rest?
Good News...rats and other scavengers are slowed and hibernating because of the cold weather. Can't wait for the first warm day!

Nothing has changed, only gotten worse. Regular trash/garbage hasn't been picked up in 3 weeks because City trucks say they can't get down the Alley because of the construction and Parking on an Alley which has signs posted "No Parking/Standing in this Alley". Called City's 311 line 10 times and garbage finally picked up on Saturday. Our regular garbage is Wed. morning. Not holding my breath.
On issue of rats, have gotten ten in ten days. Big ones who like crackers and peanut butter. Last night put out sour dough bread & Brie and had no takers. Back to the cheap stuff.
Alley surface is horrendous and when cracks get larger will hopefully swallow up the rats.
People take short cut and speed through Alley when they don't live anywhere near here. Would be nice if "residents only" could have access and at least give us a chance to get in and out of our garages.

Another neighbor on the Alley has sold and bailed out to the burbs. May follow suit but not to the immediate burbs.

Everything is status quo. Graffiti on garage doors is worse than ever. Alley surface looks like it will sink soon. Rats having a field day with garbage at Globe Market and Seven eleven. Tenants in the new apartment building with fancy rents are in for a real surprise. Garbage trucks can't get down alley and neither can fire trucks and ambulances.

City trash hasn't been picked up for two weeks. Trucks can't make turns onto alley unless they take out some street signs (which they have on Auburn and Grenway). Alley continues to crumble as well as our cement apron approaches to our garages/carriage houses. Two (2) signs have been put up at the end of the alley on Breckenridge and Auburn. Private signs are posted all over and STILL people park where ever they please. When 911 or the Mayor's 311 (that does nothing) are called, no one comes down the alley to ticket. Why doesn't everyone play by the same rules?
National Grid has been contacted on line and via phone by me 5 times to correct an outage of a light on Grenway (pole #770). They responded that they do not have this number in their inventory. It's clearly marked, as well as others next to it. What's up...is Benchmark also controlling which lights are lit so they don't shine excessively into the atrocious, over priced, rat infested, poor quality apartment building?

Nothing has changed. GrenWay Alley has cracked pavement and pot holes which can swallow a child or pet, not to mention break someone's leg!

Snow removal from front of apartment garage doors is deposited onto the front of private garages on Alley. Senior home owners must remove this extra snow, especially after they just shoveled.

Apartment building where Tot Lot used to be, has chain type garage doors which can be heard over one block away every time cars enter or exit. Large fans turn on and supposedly blows toxic CO gas out of garage with such force that my garage doors shake and rumble. This toxic gas goes into my garage, along with dust, dirt and small stones. Tenants live above garages/carriage houses and have been threatening to break their lease because of infringement of right to peaceful and healthy habitation.
Money talks...can't fight large and greedy corporations!

Just found out after talking to councilman Feroletto's office, that GrenWay Alley is NOT on the list this year for pavement. It hasn't been done since I've been here 1990. Gill Alley has been done twice in the last couple of years and no big trucks travel on it. Could it be someone from City Hall lives on that block?

Please sit down for this comment. Last month paving crews came to the alley and scraped off several layers of asphalt. Sat that way for a month and then one day, asphalt was laid down in one hour for the entire length of the alley and Finished. Now, was it that hard to do? We're all happy campers on the alley with a smooth non crater surface.
Now, just a few more issues to be resolved and then we can relax such as speeding down the alley, drug activity, cars being stolen and broken into, abandoned cars and trucks on alley and Ashland, litter in most of Elmwood village including face masks, dog poop left by inconsiderate pet owners, fire works almost every night affecting pets and those with PTSD, motorcycles, atv's and obnoxious mufflers, etc.
Time to call in the Vigilantes.
