Can the City of Raleigh place a traffic light at this intersection?

Unless the City actually does something about the current, documented speeding issues on Winthrop Dr, I think that the surrounding neighbors would be very opposed to a traffic light. A light would only make using this residential road as an alternative to surrounding roads (such as Creedmoor or Leesville) more attractive. The City really needs to do something about traffic flow in this area before it ruins the neighborhoods.

The issue of speeding in old Brookhaven is not new to the City of Raleigh. That is why a four way stop was created on Rembert and Shamrock Drives and a three way stop at Winthrop and Sleepy Hollow Drives.

According to the City of Raleigh Traffic Management guidance documents, stop signs are not an effective traffic calming tool because drivers will speed up between stop signs to "make up time". Based on the number of posts on this website asking for help with speeding, I'd say the City really needs to step-up what they are doing to reduce speeding through neighborhoods.

I agree with you. I have seen multiple cars "roll" these stop signs
