Opis

Under the railroad bridge, on the sidewalk along Westbound Peace St, there's a dead bird.

Also, the sidewalk is completely covered with bird droppings. Is it possible for the sidewalks under the bridge to be cleaned/power-washed?

I have tried to get this area cleaned up for years. The City says it is the responsibility of the railroad (CSX) and the railroad is completely unresponsive. But maybe if more than one person emails CSX they would finally yield to the pressure. The City did actually send their street sweeper under there once, but haven't returned.

This has been forwarded to Solid Waste Services for pick-up, I will also ask Public Works to look at the sidewalk in this area. An update will be posted once I hear back from them.

Per PW the sidewalks have be washed, waiting for response from SWS regarding animal pick-up.

I walk under this bridge twice a day, so I can report that the bird is gone. A lot of the pigeon poop is gone also, although it needs to be kept up with at the very least monthly. Thanks for your help.

Since the bird has been picked up this issue will be closed. This bridge is maintained by NCDOT, they do not monitor SCF issues, please contact Vickie Holbrook at 733-4768 or via email at vholbrook@ncdot.gov for additional concerns.
