I drive Poinsettia every day and I don't really see people speeding and in fact, believe that many people are adhering to the speed limits.

If you only drive through poinsettia it is almost impossible to observe speed of the cars. You can only observe the speed of one car at the time you are in that road , the car ahead of you.

We have put out a speed trailer to gather data. This will give us a day of the week and times of day to step up our education and enforcement. I have also assigned a directed patrol to the officers so they will monitor traffic speeds.

We completed a recent survey of the area using our electronic speed monitoring equipment. The results showed an increase in volume, but did not indicate speed being an issue. The police officers will step up enforcement in that area. A more permanent solution would need to be discussed on the town commission level. Any reduction in the speed limit or roadway modifications would be decided by the commission.
