  • 100 Church St. South New Haven, Connecticut - Hill
The corner of Amistad and 100 Church St. South is a very dangerous area for pedestrians. There are cars turning from every corner and in the evening, many people cross Church St. to get to their vehicles in a remote lot across the street (near the church). These folks do not cross in the cross walk and cross diagonally across 4 lanes (2 each way) of traffic in the dark. I think there needs to be an elevated walkway (or two) to keep these pedestrians out of harms way.
  • Canner St & Prospect St New Haven Connecticut - Prospect Hill
Someone is going to die or get seriously injured. Propect and Canner St needs an actual pedestrian signal light or even flashing lights (such as the ones on Whitney Ave and Audubon St) to alert drivers of pedestrians. Receiving complaints from neighbors attempting to cross the street with small children. Traffic is relentless at this intersection.
  • Hill K-5 School Dewitt Street, New Haven, CT 06511, United States of America - Hill
Need speed bumps to control speeding cars by hill central.
  • 35 Peck St New Haven, CT, 06513, USA - Quinnipiac Terrace
Our Quinnipiac Terrace community has a lot of children who tend to come outside and play, ride bikes, etc. The issue is with the speeding. Its an everyday issue and has come close to almost running a child over. I fear for the life of our children and adults in my community. I would recommend for a few speed bumps to be placed around on our community streets such as: Del Rio Dr, Peck st ( from Downing to Front St), and Downing St. I would appreciate if this action took place before going through a tragic situation. Thank You!
  • Trowbridge Square Park New Haven, Connecticut - Hill
Is there any way to get speed bumps here? The speed of which people come down the street is concerning especially with a park being the center of this neighborhood.
  • 1268–1298 Forest Rd New Haven CT 06515, United States - Westville
This intersection needs a left turn arrow for cars turning from Fountain St. to Forest Road. When the street is busy there is no way to safely turn since the opposing traffic does not stop due to the light timing.
  • 81 Sherland Ave New Haven, CT, 06513, USA - Fair Haven Heights
Resident wants speed bump on his street to slow traffic. Says it is not safe for children and bicyclists. Please review.
  • 804 State Street New Haven, Connecticut - Downtown

Children that are attending Booker T Washington Academy on 804 State Street are being dropped off at the school in an unsafe manner.
It is complete chaos in the morning. Parents are double parked in front of the school and other parents are dodging cars as they run across the street with their children. I witness a parent and child standing in the middle of State Street and within minutes the child pulled away from his mother and ran This child came very close to being hit by a car.

I not sure what the school is thinking are they waiting for child to be hit by a car ?? Something needs to be done for the safety of the children and the drivers. The adults don't seem to be thinking at all about the safety of these children

  • 5-130 Hemlock Road; 30-45 Birch Drive New Haven, Connecticut - Westville

The "Transportation, Traffic & Parking Department - Manager of Operations, Process Improvement" has just closed a request from 2015 for a review of inadequate traffic signs along Hemlock Road and at the intersection of Hemlock with Birch Drive.

Contrary to the implication, this issue is neither "historical" nor resolved.

A Complete Streets application was filed with the city in 2012 to address traffic issues regarding Hemlock Road, Marvelwood Drive, and Birch Drive. In the fall of 2016, the city organized a neighborhood meeting and walk-around to discuss the proposals, which was attended by the Alder, the City Engineer, and, if I remember correctly, also by a representative from Transportation,Traffic & Parking, although not by the Director, who at the last minute could not be there.

At the conclusion, there was great optimism that the city was taking a genuine interest. But there has been no action since.

The major thrust of the Complete Streets application was to address traffic safety. One part of this was to correct inadequate signage that results in a) cars swerving around the corner form Birch to Hemlock, and b) cars traveling the wrong way up one-way Hemlock.

    a) There needs to be a Stop sign at the T-intersection of Birch and Hemlock. Every city official who has looked at this has immediately declared that one is _required_, yet none has been installed.

    b) The Do Not Enter signs at the foot of Hemlock need to be repositioned, straightened, and reoriented -- in a way that matches the actual sight lines of drivers approaching the foot of the street. Also, an additional Wrong Way sign needs to be placed farther up the street, before the Birch Drive intersection.

    c) Ideally, a Do Not Enter stanchion, similar to the one at the intersection of Fowler Street with Frederick Street, should be placed within the very broad intersection of Hemlock and Marvelwood Drive.

    d) A No Right Turn sign should be placed on Marvelwood to catch the attention of drivers approaching Hemlock from the northeast.

At the very least -- the city should be willing to review these issues, which could be inexpensively resolved, rather than, in effect, declaring them obsolete.
