Hello,

I would like to request police presence at Tustin Memorial Academy on Browning Ave during the weekday, 30 minutes in mornings and 30 minutes in the afternoon for one whole week. I hope that the police's presence will deter people from parking in front of emergency lanes and red curbs and being verbally aggressive towards school staff. These irresponsible and aggressive drivers can impede an emergency first responder's ability to do their work during pick up and drop off times. More importantly, these aggressive drivers are endangering adults and elementary school children including kindergartners.

Since August 2023, parents / guardians have been parking illegally in emergency lanes in the Tustin Memorial Academy parking lot as well as in front of the red painted curbs on Browning Ave during drop off (Mon-Fr 745-815) and pick up (Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri times differ from Wed ).

These drivers have been instructed by the school principal, teachers and staff to not do so. The principal has sent reminders in newsletters and even put together a video of how to park.

Recently, the situation has escalated into drivers starting verbal altercations with school staff. There has not been any reports of physical assault, but it is only a matter of time an assault will occur given this misconduct has continued for several months.

TMA is a blue ribbon elementary school. If young school children especially kindergartners become injured, it will certainly make the news and eventually lower our City's reputation which will lead to lower property values and less tax.
