Nothing will be done about it. I have neighbors that have lived by me for 10 years and both their cars have Illinois plates. Have been reported numerous times. Nothing is done about it. The prosecutor wont do anything. Sad situation in Hammond and all that excise tax gone and they all use the same things law abiding people do that the excise tax pays for.

There are always exceptions to any rule....The vehicles in question might be owned by a business in Illinois and therefore are registered to that business. I have a friend who lives in Illinois and bought and plated a car to give to his mother to drive, and she lives here in Hammond. She is constantly being harassed by neighbors. Check out all the facts before you open your mouth. "JUST SAYIN' "

It’s their back neighbor who continues harassing them for no apparent reason.. Little does he know they always catch him on camera looking into their yard and constantly taking pictures of their properties and keeps bugging the city about anything and everything he can.... yes there are things that should be reported but when your just being a plain Awhole & there’s nothing from these business owners effecting your personal life or property than HE needs to back off! And let them do what they have to do to support their Family! They are not doing anything illegal or looking for trouble, the vehicles are owned by their company in Illinois and the owners has everything in check , they are Insured, license and bonded threw out Illinois and Indiana. I did my research! Get your facts straight.

I recall this property. I did try to reach compliance regarding the vehicle in the past couple of years. The current residents bought the home from their former landlord. When they were renting, she was able to get them to do their best to store it inside the garage & to stop disposing of commercial waste at their residence. It seems the truck is an issue since they are now the land owners. I'm glad to see they did replace the rotting fascia board along the garage, like I asked them to do in via a citation in 2017. I'll see what I can do. Please keep in mind, if it has to go to City Court, it may take a few months to see a resolution. The courts move slow, by design.

Feb. 11th, 2019: Let me also make clear, I do not like to harm a man trying to support his family. I always try to come to the most reasonable resolution. I'll work with the owner but will try to get started on it ASAP.

MARCH 5th update: I do want you to know -- since the trailer is still being stored at the residence, a citation via City Court will be going out to the owner later this week. The initial court date will be some time in April 2019. I will also point out to the owner the overflowing trash cans. I will work with him on a solution, so keep in mind it may take some time for compliance. This likely won't stop in days or a couple of weeks, but we will be following thru! Thank you for your patience thus far!

Trash over ??commonsense that the garbage day for pick up is Wednesday and you Took picture Tuesday it’s not there fault the city doesn’t pick up fast enough! If you feel the need to check the garbage it’s home trash it’s a family of 6..

I take it the trash is still overflowing. If need be, they will be asked to get a 2nd trash can to fit it all. I'll take a look at it before pick-up this Wed.

Drive-by yesterday (Monday 3/25) showed the trash can was NOT overflowing this week & the trailer was gone. I'll continue to check from the alleyway when I can thru the spring. Court date still coming up, so compliance still expected.
