Who is the say the this repair would encourage drivers to avoid the toll road?

Who is to say that it wouldn't encourage people to avoid the toll road? Whether widening Dillon Rd (which is what the original post seems to request) changes the number of people using the toll road or not isn't really the issue. It's that the contract for the toll road does not allow any changes that might impact toll road traffic. So, as I understand it, if the toll road people think it's an issue that would negatively impact their revenue the road improvement cannot be done. The same is bound to happen with roads near 36 once that project is complete.

Who is to say that it will? A court will make the decision and might, just might, nullify a contract clause in the name of safety. The contract says the improvement may not be done not can not.

Look, I'm just adding the comment of the likely reason why the widening of the road is not being addressed. I would like to see it fixed/widened as much as anyone. Ultimately the city of Broomfield will have to make the decision as to whether they want to take on that legal battle or not. To me the entire "Public-Private Partnership" thing is a travesty and should not be allowed.

Dillon Road / West 144t h Avenue Improvements – Phase 1 (Budget to be
determined)
In April 2012, Council reviewed cost estimates to complete Dillon Road/West 144th Avenue as a four-lane
arterial through Broomfield. Council directed staff to analyze and verify the traffic volumes and cut-through
traffic percentages, recommend near-term improvements, and make recommendations for the ultimate
design. Council conducted a study session on August 20, 2013, regarding the Dillon Road/West 144th Avenue
traffic analysis and concurred with the recommended improvements. The Phase 1 project would add
auxiliary through lanes at the Sheridan Boulevard, Aspen Street, and South 120th Street intersections to
reduce traffic congestion and enable the intersections to process more vehicles during morning and
afternoon peak hours.
A request for proposals (RFP) for design of the Dillon Road/West 144th Avenue – Phase 1 improvements was
issued on July 1, 2014, to ten consulting firms who indicated interest in the project. Five complete proposals
were received, and Muller Engineering Company, Inc., (Muller) received the highest overall score and had the
lowest not-to-exceed design fee. Council reviewed the project in the 2014 budget study session. It was
requested that staff add bicycle improvements to the first phase of improvements and that efforts be made
to advance the project through the budgeting process. On January 13, 2015, Council approved a consulting
agreement with Muller for a bikeway feasibility study and the Phase 1 design. The overall intent of the scope
of professional services is to provide Broomfield with a complete field investigation of existing conditions as
well as design drawings and project specifications suitable as bid documents for construction of the Phase 1
project. The design work is underway; however, if the project budget is funded as proposed ($10,000,000) in
2016, the project scope will likely increase to include the full road width west of Sheridan Boulevard to
South 120th Street.

Interesting to see comments about 144th Ave. in Dillon Road from all the way back to 2010.

Yes widening for use during peak hours would be great because people are creatures of habit they are going to use the path of least resistance and 144th leads to Sheridan which cuts over to 120th where Walmart is etc. people know how to get home and they know where they need to go and be.

My immediate concern is the cracks that go across the road that are approximately 8 inches wide And the depth? I don’t know. But as you approach the traffic like from either direction at Sheridan and as your car begins to slow down from 50 to 40 to 30 to 20 mph if feels like your car is falling into that CRACK. bump, bump really bad. Please fill these cracks across the road. I know I am not the only one that it bothers. Not to mention the wear and tear on our vehicles.
