How about more traffic calming measures such as the rework of Q Ave between Clifton & Ferry St? This would really add to the quality of life and improve the neighborhood much more than adding a light.

I worry that a traffic signal would increase the noise level with trucks & motorcycle noise from stopping, idling & starting all day and night.

I live less than two blocks from there, use the intersection several times every day and I never have a problem with this intersection, but I can understand that speed is a factor on Q Ave.

A traffic light will definitely help that intersection, as well as enforcement of the no-turn on red at Quinnipiac and Rt 80

commenting on traffic light at Quinnipiac Av and Hemingway St. How about a rotery like the other on on Quinnipiac also Hemingway widening project of 35 years ago was never completed so keep the buses to go down the wider finished part of Hemingway to Eastern st. The corner on Quinnipiac and Hemingway was not designed to handle all the bus traffic from the Bus Company on Hemingway St.

The department has developed an entire program around improving New Haven’s streets in order to provide safer and more convenient access to a greater number of transportation modes. This issue is a good example of the types of ideas that fall under the “Complete Streets” scope.

A focal point of this program is to include feedback and ideas for street improvements from members of the community. You will also find previously submitted project requests from other community members.

I agree that something would help here, though not sure it's a regular stop light. Maybe a flashing red? Speed bumps, traffic calming. How about Nhpd actually enforcing the 25 mph speed limit?! I live right around the corner, and avoid Q Ave like the plague bec of the fact that it feels like a speedway. It actually IS a racetrack very late at night, sometimes used for drag racing. The empty lot at this corner, by the way, would make a great little park, with raised crosswalks and a traffic rice like further down on the avenue at Ferry. Would be amazing if the city could transform this spot with lots of potential!

I submitted a complete streets application to look into a rotary, 4 way stop sign or blinking red. I have not heard any response. The city did not even acknowledge my submission. This is a dangerous corner.

We have received your submission. It is currently on the list for a traffic study. Traffic data collection will resume in the spring. Once a study has been completed, it will be put on the agenda for review at the next Resource Committee meeting. Thank you for your submission.

I have been working with the city to address this issue for two years now. I am hopeful that now that Douglas Hausladen has been appointned to Traffic & Parking we will see some action by the city to resolve this issue soon.
