If it is done right it will not be a major traffic jam... with proper planning like i have seen in other city's tim hortons (which are just as busy) the drive thru can be very long without blocking traffic. I for one welcome this as i work near there and will be making that drive thru 1 car longer every morning.
YEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is two minutes from my place, AND on my way to work. The line up shouldn't be THAT bad at 6:45am. I am SO looking forward to this! Yey, PA! :)
why such negative comments about every posting/story on this site.... I'm sure that's not what it was designed for!!! I think some people have far too much time on their hands to do nothing but complain! Learn some tolerance and understand that you can't please everyone. The positive here is our city is growing....businesses opening....creating jobs.... AWESOME!!!
You are right, glass half full. I was negative when I called people lazy but just frustrated by the amount of gas being burned by people sitting in their cars and frustrated by a population that is getting fatter and fatter. But you are right, my comment did nothing to "fix" the situation. Although, to be honest, I don't think this site fixes anything. It really is a place just to complain and just makes people grumpier and grumpier. I think I should quit visiting this whole entire PA Now site.
with it being built in a industrial area I bet like other cities that have done the same they will target the tractor trailer units and there will be a "no heavy truck " sign just before their parking lot thus the truckers will stop along the side and then there will be even more whining, crying, and complaining. seen this done in winnipeg, regina, saskatoon, why build there if you dont want their buisness?
suck it up people,I would sooner get my coffe quicker, total rush hr traffic in this city last like what,30 minutes total per day?focus on a bridge for the city.
I dont know if I should, I'm kind of shy, but I think a PETITION to the city would be a fantastic idea, for them to enforce traffic violations caused by the drive throughs. The one at cornerstone is a lost cause, as those parking lots aren't city property, but for the new one and the 2nd ave one would be great.
I think the new one's greatest impact will be on the shops behind it.
Well folks there is a drive through at the new store on Marquis, and it is a store owned by Tim's.The tim's on snd by the south hill mall may be closing as all tim's need drive thru's.That corner now is bad for traffic can't wait to see the confusion.
Yes...the city needs to shut this down ASAP! What is with all this capitalism anyway?
WOW..have some tea and go and read the "Commonwealth" again. Government can't control every little thing in our lives.
If you don't like the fact that there may be line ups at certain times, don't go through that part of the city. PA isn't that big that a detour is going to take you 30 mins out of your way.
Everyone, if you are going voice on here about it, start now, by calling the city and complain about the existing ones, and the new one, call ever time you have to detour because of blocked roads leading into the drive through, that is the only way you will get results, I have not seen one thing get solved from the quick fix on this site
Hey pooky,,great idea on the petition, and don't be shy, this is OUR City, and it is a danger to others the way these line up get to extremeness. and the police not enforcing alot in parking lots. I was in a accident in the cornerstone lot several years ago, and the officer said that " it privatley owned, not private property, and as long at it is within the city limits, they police it, and the rules of the road apply to parking lots. If you believe and feel strong about this,,go for it !!!
I think the biggest problem with putting a Tim's there is gonna be traffic turning right into Tim's & turning left at the Co-op Gas Bar. This is gonna cause major backup in traffic & accidents unless the city widens the road at that intersection.
seems like alot of people in pa dont ever want this city to expand wether it be a tim hortons or more housing development, its time to see this city grow and create new jobs, you dont like it move to a smaller town.
Bravo!!!! We need a new Tim Horton's! That is fantastic. Way to go!!!! Enough complaining people, like really why dont you people start a group together. PA should not be so negative. And BTW people, i make my own coffee.
Is this where the Husky gas station use to be? That is a nightmare intersection already from the south to access going West on Marquis Rd, coming out of Co-op gas bar, with all the traffic converging from 6th, etc. If it was a 4 lane road it would help. Another traffic light would create another impediment to smooth flow. With all the room we have and this is suppose to be a thoroughfare, one has to question how soon before it will end up being like Saskatoon's Circle Drive (Travelodge to Miller). So much for traffic movement.
If any of you were actually informed, it's not "creating more jobs", they are simply moving an already existing Tim Horton's to a NEW LOCATION. THE SAFETY OF EVERYDAY COMMUTERS is far more important than the dim wits who MUST have their morning coffee.
This issue is about TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS. The STREETS are NOT drive through LINE UPS. This city is so small, and it already takes too long to get through it when it's busy.
What we need is CITY ENFORCEMENT of traffic laws. There are already signs placed BY THE CITY at the 2nd ave Tim's, that CLEARLY state "No Stopping". Which therefore makes it an enforceable law. The problem is no one is enforcing it. I will not drive around town to "find a different route" to work or my house because people are far too lazy to walk inside.
I will start a petition to get the city to ENFORCE the laws. Tickets for people lined up on the road. Great revenue for them. I've seen police issuing tickets at WALMART for people stopped in a FIRE LANE, so why not on our CITY STREETS???!!
Have the city put a NO BLOCKING sign on Marquis Road. But from the looks of the way a drive thru would (should) work.....the traffic shouldn't be on Marquis Road anyways.
@$#% why does everybody want more traffic lights people are so stupid and lazy if you go around the block there is traffic lights. 6 ave and marquis or by toyota.
Well, they can't stop this as it was planned many months ago and it will be a good business opportunity. I am just curious as to how the traffic flow will be handled.
Perhaps this will ease the burden of the other Hortons, as someone else already stated. If not, I think the caffeine addicts will find the semis that frequently use Marquis Rd can be very persuasive when it comes to convincing them to get the Hell out of the way. Just a thought. :)
Just a thought if they close the one on second ave that leave people who work north of pa a longer trip to work cuz they'd have to commute from where they live to cornerstone or the "new" one on marquis drive rather then having a convient one for them to access and they's be pretty choked JUST SAYING! :D
I think there are misconceptions here.

the problem with that statement is NO ONE IS STOPPING they in their running vehicles waiting for traffic to move. Those signs mean "No, Stopping, Shutting off vehicle"
what if you were just caught in northbound traffic trying to turn right on 15th, but were backed up a couple blocks...
Another one... Tim's is building on the old McD's site. should be lots of room for a drive through. the one on 2nd/32nd is closing.
the NEW one on Marquis is NEW and NOT replacing anything.
Lets all hope the NEW locations will have better drive thru designs
No we don not need more traffic lights on Marquis Rd and definatly just one block after 6th Ave E. The traffic comming off of 6th would be backed up by this. Instead we need police to make sure that traffic is not obstructed.
the drive wont be on marquis have you not seen the new building? only glass windows are facing marquis. so the traffic will be backed up on the industrial street. and if that is such a problem to some people avoid the lane/street.
I heard Tim's(up the hill) is moving across the street, they bought the OLD McDonald's land and are building a new store with a drive thru. Hopefully they build it right so we don't have traffic jams on both ends of 2nd ave!
So, just wondering...where is the mass congestion at this intersection now that the new Timmies is open. I never see any when I drive down Marquis Road.......crickets....
WOW! I just got an e-mail that someone had commented on See Click Fix. I totally forgot that this even existed. Thanks for the nostalgia and also exposing how See Click Fix never accomplished anything.

12 years later and the issue is pretty much a non-issue
traffic is rarely backed up
BUT the Tim's lot is a stupid design, where it can easily lock up with about 12 vehicles in the drivethru.
a set of lights at Marquis/5thAve would be nice, but a nightmare for traffic westbound off 6th.
But at least they have lots of room for the backup
