Referencing the current issue:
"In relationship to the temporary repairs to the pot holes and grading of 23rd St from 52nd Ave to 50th Ave. When are you going to pave this street? It is one step up from being a dirt road and an eye sore at best"
The "STREET" is 23rd St. a street in St Petersburg. and as such, it is the responsibility of the city to maintain city streets. It has been suggested to get all the neighbors to form a Special Assessment District, get the city to pave the street with payment from a fund created by the members of the S.A.D effected by the improvements.
This is unacceptable

According to 2021 Florida Statute 177.031:
“Alley” means a right-of-way providing a secondary means of access and service to abutting property.
23rd Street is the ONLY access to appx half of the houses.

Creating several SCF does not help. It just throws your request to the bottom of the file due to most recent date.
Once you have created a SCF write down the reference number and keep it for future reference. You can call the center to get updates or just check on the reference number on this site to read updates.
As far as I can see all SCF created have the same date submitted which is June 8th, 2022 which was last month. Unfortunately, you will have to wait your turn as the requests are several and get served on a first come first served basis. The urgency of the request will be taken into consideration and done.
We are looking at 3-6 months waiting. We ask for patience as our crews are doing their best to get around.

Are there updates on this? All I’m seeing is the ticket owner name being changed. The last update stated for citizens to be patient as there is a 3-6 month waiting. The reference date is June 8, 2022. That was 10 months ago! City of St Pete, where is the accountability to follow through on your own timelines? This is beyond ridiculous.
23rd St N (between 52nd & 50th Ave N) is still a dusty, forgotten alley that is the only & main access for many front facing homes on 23rd St N. This alley was given a street name but nothing more. This should be unacceptable in any city, especially one seeing this level of growth.
Who can this be escalated to for some actual attention and consideration?
Do better City of St Pete.

Please let me first apologize for the sheer number of times this issue has changed hands without finding resolution. The Stormwater, Pavement, and Traffic Operations Department recently underwent a change in leadership and reorganization of staff, and this is simply not representative of how we will do business.
Our team is tasked with maintaining rights of way throughout the City including alleyway surfaces. We provide routine and emergency maintenance on these rights of way; however, we don't engage in complete resurfacings, nor are we involved in the process of changing roadway surface materials. There is a specific process for requesting the installation of asphalt pavement on an unpaved alleyway, but I believe a case can be made that this stopped being an alleyway when it became the sole means for some of you to access your property. I will speak with our director and my peers in our Engineering and Capital Improvements Department this coming week and provide you all updates as new information becomes available. Please also feel free to contact me at the following:

Chris, your consideration is appreciated. It’s the first time this block of 23rd St N is being addressed as tax paying homeowners as opposed to just another ticket to close quickly. For that, thank you.
Seeing as though it’s been about one month since your last comment, is there an update from your discussions with Engineering & Capital Improvements?
We’re eagerly awaiting some positive progress. It seems most logical for the City of St Pete to properly pave a former alley turned actual street with sole access for nearly a dozen homes. Help us find the right solution for an issue that has been overlooked for far too long.
