Description

The curved corner section has a long stress crack through its middle, and where it meets the straight section of sidewalk that parallels Ray Road, there is 3"+ elevation difference. (Photos include a 12" ruler.) The area of mowing strip between sidewalk and curb along Ray appears to be sinking slowly (erosion due to a leak under curb into storm sewer?). Even if there is no underground structural problem, the large differential in sidewalk presents a tripping hazard for pedestrians and certain damage to bicycles that pass. This corner represents the only sidewalk route leading to Lake Lynn Park for residents of this phase of Stonehenge neighborhood, so it is a very well traveled route. Note: A similar concrete sidewalk situation exists directly across Laurel Mountain Road at the W/SW corner with Ray -- however, this sidewalk problem involving invasive tree roots is already marked with orange paint signifying a repair is planned there. It does not appear the opposite corner's sidewalk has received similar inspection.
