Who would we contact about 2 different cars using the same marker plates? They switch the plates depending on which vehicle they want to use. Its says that one of the vehicles on the road is not registered and insured.

Why did someone actually report this? This has all the signs of Big Brother trying to bring people down. This makes me feel so sick. So what if someone is breaking a vehicle registration law. It is so obvious you folks have been brainwashed into telling on each other. This reported issue is indicative of the horror stories we hear about people living in countries under totalitarian control.
Please leave the U.S. for more than 20 years, like I did, and then return to the U.S. and you will find your compassion to help other American citizens to be much stronger than it is now.
What's next? Reporting people for jaywalking?
Shame on all of you.

I would like to know how you will feel if you were involved in an accident with someone driving an uninsured vehicle. I pay property tax on my vehicle and a registration fee. Why shouldn't others?
Tommy (Zarejestrowany użytkownik)
Yes, I also could break the law and get away with it, but I don't because I don't need to; however, I understand there are some people who are going through difficult financial times who might need to avoid some government expenses.
Haven't you ever met anyone who might need help avoiding government policies that would cause financial problems and who might be having problems supporting a family?
Personally, when I see someone breaking an administrative law, I give the alleged offender the benefit of the doubt and yes, I would even comfortably endure the rebuke of any government organization who opposes my assistance.
I believe I am only guilty of trying to help my fellow citizens the way most Americans used to do back in the 20th century. I guess I can't expect anyone to do that anymore.... this is just sad.

Please answer my question, how would you feel if you are involved in an accident with an uninsured person?. You stated that you are only trying to help your fellow citizen, so why don't you just pay for this person's registration fee and insurance?

It is totally up to you but I would not use my real name on this site because you do not know who is reading these posts. If you wish you can call See Click Fix 800 369-9060 to change your screen name.

I apologize for taking so long to reply. I'm sure if I were in a accident with someone who has no insurance, I would be very upset, but that wouldn't sway my feeling that we shouldn't report people who are breaking laws that do not present immediate dangers to others. If I live in this country long enough, I might also change my mind and start reporting people who violate nonviolent crimes.

Concerned Citizen,
Your new avater appears to be the most respectful one I've ever seen on this platform. I assume you served in our military as long as I did. I also assume you lived overseas as long I I did; however, if you have not lived outside of the U.S., then you only know life inside of the U.S. which pretty much limits your outlook on life to a very small spectrum of what the rest of the world has to offer. It breaks my heart to read comments from people who only know the American way of life.
We (all Americans) need to stop citing Fox News and other BS American media to judge what is good and what is bad.
The rest of the world is laughing at us and folks like you make it worse.
XYZ (Zarejestrowany użytkownik)
So if one has not lived overseas they do not have a right to have an opinion and to express it.
Tommy, it appears that you are not happy with Americans and prefer people who live outside of the United States. My question to you is why don't you just go and live overseas? Life is too short to live in a country that breaks your heart.
Tommy (Zarejestrowany użytkownik)
XYZ,
Thank you for the comment. I have heard similar words from many other Americans so many times. It's true, life for me would be so much easier if I chose to leave the U.S. again, but I will not leave with my tail between my legs.
Rather, I will remain in the U.S. and do whatever I can to help all of the monocultural Americans understand that there is a brighter side of life which is obvious to people in other cultures. I feel it is my duty to try to help monocultural Americans understand what I have learned and I'll do my best to help them understand that we don't need to fit the empirical stereotype that other countries have about us. Yup, I'm not done here yet.
The best advice I have for other Americans is to leave the U.S. for as long as possible; however, I know this is not possible for financial reasons. Despite that, I will not give up.

I too was looking for a better response then the ones you gave. Especially the last one which was,"you're". Please answer my question, why don't you just pay for the person's on Quinnipiac Ave registration fee and insurance? This should help them feel we don't fit the empirical stereotype that other countries have about us

You are entitled to your misguided opinion. You condone breaking the law. You are in agreement that breaking the law is perfectly fine. Sorry to say it is people like you who make all the bad things happen. IMO anyone who allows criminals to get away with breaking the law is one of them. That is the problem with this generation they are too soft and ignore what can be fixed.
XYZ (Zarejestrowany użytkownik)
Maybe you can give us a list of laws that you feel we should report when we witness them being broken.
XYZ (Zarejestrowany użytkownik)
In an earlier post you stated the following "Please leave the U.S. for more than 20 years, like I did, and then return to the U.S. and you will find your compassion to help other American citizens to be much stronger than it is now".
You have no right to judge if someone is compassion because they want to report someone who is breaking the law. Trust me I myself do a lot to help my fellow my citizens. An accountant who did my taxes once remarked that my charitable contributions were more than the people who have more than me.
Tommy (Zarejestrowany użytkownik)
XYZ and Concerned Citizen,
This is just one huge misunderstanding:
I don't want to condone breaking the law.
Let's strap on our helmets and do what we can to make things right. There are more than 130,000 residents of our city, but fewer than 1,000 who actively contribute to online posts via this platform. We should be the ones who are meeting face to face to talk about what we can do to resolve these issues.
Let's stop squabbling about our differences and actually meet in person to discuss what we can do to make our city a better place. I'm available 24 hours a day. We should be talking about these matters face to face with each other.
Let's get together... the two of us and Tech75 and all the other folks who seem to care about making our city a better place.
Let's make this possible.

Thank you Desiree. Let's meet... and let's give the other folks time to find their courage. I propose meeting on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 2:00PM at the flagpole in the center of the New Haven Green.
I've tried this before, but nobody ever shows up except for Yale University professors. If anybody has a better place, time and/or date, please let me know.

Concerned Citizen,
Thank you for working 7 days a week.
I believe what hurts me the most is knowing that most Americans refuse to know how much their lives are controlled by American ideals which are not in the best interests of our country or of the world.
After living overseas for more than 20 years working for our country’s military, I've seen what our country has been trying to promote and it has not been in the best interest of anything.
While employed with our country's military, I had acquired the highest level of security clearance of “Top-Secret”.
I was so proud to have accomplished that feat; however, I now understand there is nothing more important than doing what is in the best interest of the true freedom of all Americans and what I was asked to do was definitely not a part of it.
My “Top-Secret” security clearance did not ensure the freedom of any Americans. Rather, it restricted what our freedom should really be and I feel ashamed to have partaken in such a farce of what our country is supposed to represent.
I understand this posted comment may result in extremely negative consequences to my professional career and perhaps even result in incarceration, but I love our country and I hope there are others who will support me in this revelation to help other American citizens understand that our policies hurt our world rather than make it a better place... including telling on people.
That's why I think it's best not to tell on people. People who tell on other people remind me of Nazis.

Tommy,
Thank you for your service. Family members of mine and many of my friends are in the military.
I think you are missing the whole point of someone asking who they would call to voice their opinion about people breaking the law. I have lived in the City of New Haven for almost 50 years. I have watched this city go from a wonderful place to live to a place where you are afraid to walk after dark because of the crime and rotten people. The only way this city is going to be what it was is to take the crime off the streets by starting at the bottom with the people who break the law with their minor mishaps and working the way up to the murderers. If the police officers and the city officials actually took pride and cared for the actual tax paying citizens there would be more of a budget to correct the major problems this city has.
I had actually called the cops when someone was breaking into my car in my driveway. To this day the cops still have not come to take a report - the guy who was breaking into my car goes by here all the time and has actually been seen stealing things out of yards. If the cops showed up when I called almost 2 years ago this guy would not be stealing from people. Minor issues turn into major issues. When does it stop? When do the people we pay to protect us actually start protecting us?

Tommy,
One thing you have done through this whole conversation is put this as nationwide issue. I think the conversations should stay where it should be, a City of New Haven Issue and try and correct what is wrong here, start right here where we live. Fix the City of New Haven - stop the law breaking here and make our city a safe place to be for Citizens.
XYZ (Zarejestrowany użytkownik)
Great post.
Tommy (Zarejestrowany użytkownik)
Concerned Citizen & XYZ,
You both have good points of view from the perspective of people who have never lived outside of the U.S.
There is nothing I can do to change that, so... oh well.
I wish you folks the best of luck trying to sell your ideals to the rest of New Haven. It shouldn't be that hard. Most residents of New Haven have never lived anywhere else, so they have no other way of life against which they can compare it.
I've tried to explain this to so many people, but it usually results in me being ostracized.
An anonymous SeeClickFix user (Zarejestrowany użytkownik)
Tommy,
You shouldn't assume people have never lived out of the country. Because I have and I don't share the same views as you. In other countries when you break the law you are punished for it. It is not an ideal it is the way of the land.
Now because people don't register all of their vehicles and they cheat the system, the money to pay for what the city needs has to come from somewhere. My property taxes have gone up, my vehicle taxes have gone up. How is that fair to the people who work so hard to stay ahead of the bills?
