I see the 'do not chase' policy and the $1,000 fee to get a bike returned have really made a difference

Actually what made a difference was Operation Bikelife by the NHPD earlier this year, prior to these new fines to retrieve a bike. It was noticeably quieter after that, but has slowly been increasing again, especially in the last month or so. Some of the major players--Lolo, cirocboy, Lay, etc--are still out there, so I think the deterrent just isn't there yet. One major player has quieted down considerably and I think it's due to his many legal problems, some of which stemmed from the multiple bikelife arrests.

This was also a major issue between 1:00AM and 2:30AM Saturday morning. 90 minutes of pure hell. Incredibly loud and racing the entire length between Grand and Rt. 80. Back and forth with only about a minute between "runs". Woke up entire house. I'm positive that houses up and down the Avenue had to put up with this also. I'm actually happy to see pouring rain for tonight's forecast, MAYBE that will deter them. People, we should NOT have to live with this.

Did anyone call this information in to the police at the time it was happening??

Honestly, I get such a lackluster, apathetic response from the 946-6316 number that I've been completely discouraged from calling these in because seriously, do they even pass on the information? I don't know. I will call them in going forward, however; I DID call in the incident on 9/22 (issue # 756137).

Lets all please call the police each and every time we see this here. Until they come. I know they treat se like crap on the phone when we call, but we have to keep it up. Perhaps the local Lt. Should also always get called?

I have a video of two of them cutting through traffic and popping wheelies over grand bridge. It was pitch black out.

When NHPD is called, incidents such as this are entered into our computer system and dispatched to officers based on priority. We have been working very hard on improving customer service on the 946-6316 line. If you feel you received poor customer service (lackluster, apathetic response) please contact me (Clayton) anytime 203-946-6234. All calls are recorded and recordings are kept indefinitely. Recorded calls found showing poor customer service or not following protocols will result in discipline and re-training.

I will never call the police 946-6316 # ever again, it seems like a waste of time since nobody ever shows up when you call. what we all need to do is lobby for a new police district so all of our cops dont spend 3/4 of their shifts working the rt80 and quinnipiac ave area.

FHR, your information is always very detailed, that's what the police need. Thank you for calling them with the description, we all need to make the commitment to call everytime with descriptions and information, not just "we saw a dirtbike a half hour ago", that's not going to help them or us.

Clayton, honestly the real problem is not the dispatch, its the lack of police enforcing basic laws. When a citizen calls in dirtbikes driving recklessly in our neighborhoods NOTHING ever happens. Maybe if your dispatchers would at least be honest and tell people that most likely nothing will be done and the cops are busy people wouldnt take their anger out on you and focus it on the real problem.
