This is a very dangerous road for pedestrians, and people really do not obey the 30mph limit. As someone who does occasionaly walk on this section of Grand Ave...PLEASE do put in a sidewalk !!
I live on Grand Ave and have to cross it to get my mail and paper. I feel unsafe doing this, especially in the winter when the streets are narrow due to snow. And drivers do NOT obey the 30 MPH limit. Sidewalks would inprove safety.
Given that most city officials are only concerned with areas that will look good to tourists, I fear this issue may fall on deaf ears.
I think it is a valid issue though, and encourage the city to consider it. If year-round residents would be taken care of a bit better, there would likely be many more people living here - and thereby boosting the economy in the off-season.
Doesn't look like this will ever get anyones attention. I'm not sure about this whole see, click, fix approach. Seems like the only issue's that get any action are those that are politically motivated. Very unfortunate as this is truly something Saratoga should and would appreciate. Interesting that Milton is installing bike / walking paths around every corner but Saratoga isn't.
If you call the city planning department and speak with Kate Maynard she will speak with you about this subject. She has been reading this site and sees your concerns. She is very concerned about the safety of pedestrian and cyclist on Grand Ave. and would be happy to let you know how to bring this up to the city for review. Concerned citizens need to take action.
