Raleigh Public Works staff reports that south of MLK on Wilmington Street, the next 3 traffic signals operate in "free run" mode, based on the proximity to each other and the overall traffic volumes in the area.
In the past this has been the most efficient way for these traffic signals to operate. The last turning movement counts were taken 2 years ago, so volumes may have increased but probably not enough to make a drastic difference in overall traffic flow.
Public Works will look into new counts and the possibility of running these on line during peak hours with a reasonably short cycle length. Closing this SeeClickFix issue at this time; thanks for reporting.
