3441 W. Belle Plaine Chicago, IL - Chicago Ward 33
This apartment building, which has at least 16 units, only has one garbage bin and it is frequently overflowing. Neighbors have seen rats in the alley, which we suspect may be due to this problem. In addition, the residents of this building don't have anywhere to put their recycling and the leave it next to the garbage cart. The building owner has been observed fly dumping his recycling into residential homeowners bins across the alley.

The City continues to allow the " tent cities" to break a multitude of city codes that were created to protect the health and welfare of the general public. We have 100 plus people who " have chosen" to live in the park and viaducts rather than move to a shelter that is not located in the area of choice. As a result we have aggressive homeless wandering the area, over turning garbage carts , drinking and drugging in the park and blocking public access to sidewalks and viaducts. Lawerence and Wilson need to be cleaned and rodent baiting done on a weekly basis. One questions the mental stability of any individual who would choose to live in a viaduct in a Chicago winter rather than a shelter. I would guess the primary reason is that shelters are generally " dry". You can not drink and drug in the shelter thus you refuse to go. City codes must be enforced for the welfare of the community. Wilson viaduct overrun with rats as is the park area surrounding the viaduct. Rotten food and trash thrown in gutter and on sidewalk under the viaduct. Guess the donations outweigh the need so it just gets tossed out in the living area? No way to clean, since the area is full of tents, trash, and guarded by residents.

Though our building has an aggressive rat abatement program, the buildings on both Brompton and Cornelia that face the back of our building have a very active rat population that overruns our back area. it is particularly concerning when I am bringing out recycling as large Rays are all around our dumpsters though they scurry into holes along the sidewalk of the buildings next door. Can you help please?
