Between 3-7pm drugs can be purchased right out of the front yard of 63 Spring Street courtesy of the new 2nd flr tenants! 3 Mexican gentleman 'post up' on the corner of Spring and Cedar, in the front yard of 63 Spring, and in a green velour chair between the houses that enables them to sit behind the bushes in the yard. They just moved in a couple of months ago and now have a booming business despite the woman and son who also live in the unit. Too many drug addicts/ baseheads are now found lingering on this corner at nite and early morning. (Thanks for all your advice regarding calling the police. I called the narcotics division and reported the problem over 2 weeks ago) I appreciate your comments, but would appreciate your vote alot more. Thanks

For the first time ever, New Haven Housing Authority finally has decided to follow HUD guidelines and revoke the Section 8 voucher of tenant at 299 Greenwich Ave (in the City Point neighborhood) due to persistent gun & drug arrests at this address. (Unfortunately, this is NOT a guarantee that they’ll be moving: if they continue to pay rent with their OWN money the landlord can continue to keep them there—in which case, our next step is to go after the landlord.)
SO HOW WAS THIS ACCOMPLISHED? Because NEIGHBORS were willing to keep the police updated about the illegal activity taking place at 299 Greenwich so that a HISTORY of police reports and arrests could be accumulated. IF THERE’S NO OFFICIAL RECORD OF COMPLAINTS, ETC. THEN POLICE & HOUSING CAN DO NOTHING.
If this can work on Greenwich Ave., it can work on Spring Street.
Police narcotics anonymous tip line: 203-946-6098 or crime incident investigations and Wanted Persons anonymous tip line: 1-866-888-TIPS(8477) (or our District Manager, Lt. Holly Wasilewski 203-687-0529). You never have to give your name. If you don’t want the police to be able to see your number on caller ID, first press *67 then dial the tip line number.
Our success on Greenwich Ave. can't happen on Spring Street without YOU.
